Bring your QuickBooks companies straight in

Haruno 1.3.52 ·

Add a company from QuickBooks

Add company ▸ From QuickBooks lists the QuickBooks companies in your organization that are not on this Mac yet. Pick one and choose Add to this computer. Haruno creates its books and starts bringing in its last 24 months at once, and the company's page shows how far it has got. You can leave the page while it runs.

A company that is not listed yet can be connected from the same sheet: Company not listed? opens Intuit's own sign-in in your browser, and the company is added as soon as you have signed in.

Haruno only reads from QuickBooks. It never changes anything there.

Sync brings in what changed

Sync asks QuickBooks which months changed since the last sync and fetches those again, so an edit to an old month reaches your books without fetching everything.

Each month now brings more than its statements: the trial balance, what customers and suppliers owe, spending by vendor, the split by class or department, the statement of cash flows, budgets, recurring transactions, and the entries behind prepaid expenses, fixed assets and accrued liabilities. The close uses them to check the balances. For example, it checks that what customers owe matches QuickBooks' own aging.

A month that has not ended yet is on the company's page as it stands. The runway, the burn, the investor report and the questions for management wait until it ends, so a few weeks are never compared with a whole month.

Already reading a company's Excel exports?

Books you already keep on this Mac can be linked to their QuickBooks company. Use QuickBooks from now on moves a company from Excel files to QuickBooks and brings every month up to date.

The chat reads every company

QuickBooks is no longer in Connectors. The chat can read every company in your Portfolio that came from QuickBooks, and a question that names no company is about the one whose page you opened last.

Ask Haruno opens the chat beside the page you are on, with just your question in the box.

A trial balance and cash flows from the books

The Statements tab shows a trial balance and a statement of cash flows worked out from the books. Both are in the statement package, and the investor report carries the cash flows.

Headcount

Company details keep the company's headcount and the month each count is as of. The per-employee figures use it, and the company's page says which month the count it shows is from.

Smaller things

  • LinkedIn, Git and Local folder are no longer in Connectors. If you had connected them, they are disconnected when you update.
  • A chat you continue from History stays one conversation, and an archived chat stays archived until you continue it.
  • The chat panel keeps the newest message in view.
  • The Portfolio stays as it is whichever folder you open for chat.
  • The sandbox download shows in the sidebar on every page.
  • When you check a company's mapping, the accounts it already lists are no longer suggested again, and the note about recurring transactions reads in plain words.
  • No reconciliation is asked for behind equity accounts.
