A statement of cash flows and a trial balance, from the books

Every company's Statements tab now shows a statement of cash flows and a trial balance, worked out from the company's own books, below the balance sheet and profit and loss. The statement package you export carries them too.

  • The statement of cash flows covers the month you closed and the year to date. It starts from net income and shows what moved cash in operating, investing and financing activities, down to the cash at the end. Like QuickBooks, it counts money received and not yet deposited as cash.
  • The trial balance lists every account at the month's end, with its debit or credit, and the totals.
  • If the company sent a statement of cash flows or a trial balance from QuickBooks, it is shown beside Haruno's own, as it was exported, with what it was checked against. It is never added to the books.

Each statement says what it was made from, the month it covers and the accounting basis. When the books can't complete one, because a month is missing or a movement has nothing to explain it, it says Not complete and lists why, rather than showing a total that isn't there.

The year to date now follows each company's own fiscal year.

In the investor report

The Investor report now includes the statement of cash flows once the books can complete it. The trial balance stays out until you add it with the eye next to its heading, because most investor reports don't include one. A statement exported from QuickBooks never goes to investors.

Smaller things

  • Ask the assistant about a company's cash flows or trial balance. It says which figures were worked out from the books and which came from QuickBooks, and why a statement isn't complete.
  • A QuickBooks statement of cash flows whose sections don't add up, that doesn't run from the cash at the start to the cash at the end, or that disagrees with the profit and loss is now flagged in the company's findings.
  • Companies kept in 弥生会計 say so on their cards.
